It may be an old time movie cliché but a lot of us do spend a fair bit of time singing in the shower. Often you find yourself singing along to the tunes in your head or you have a mobile device with a speaker that is distorted by shower noise and a fair few feet away, somewhat dimming the experience. This is a problem Kohler showers have the solution to with their nifty K-9245-CP shower head. Acting as both a shower and a speaker with over 7 hours battery life and a tough chrome finish, this is a product that really can liven up your bathroom in more ways than one.
The chrome finish on the shower head looks fantastic straight out the box. Whilst this is the only colour currently available for the K-9245-CP, it will fit in with most other modern bathroom installations and furthermore, the sleek, modern design is attractive and draws your attention to your shower stall. It is shaped like an upside down cone which gives it a reliable look also. The jet placement on the shower head is also relitively close together, which gives the shower head a somewhat unique appearance.
The speaker itself sits in the middle of the shower head and is a brushed white in colour, meaning it is immediately identifiable and it also sits protruding up from the rest of the shower head, making it incredibly easy to disconnect and move around your bathroom as needs be. Indeed, if you wish you can carry the shower head round the house with you, listening to your favourite podcast or radio station on the move from over 30 feet away!
Installing the shower head is no problem thanks to a clear and legible installation guide available that will walk you through the process incredibly effectively no matter your level of experience with plumbing work. All that is required is some common sense alongside a wrench and the unit will be up and running in less than twenty minutes.
The battery life of the speaker itself is some7 hours on a standard lithium based set up, which is perfectly acceptable considering most showers take less than ten minutes. There is also less than 1% harmonic distortion, meaning you will be able to hear your favourite listening material crisp and clear.
As for the shower itself, there are 60 jets that surround the speaker itself and they are located close together so that you get a seemingly more powerful shower and a consistent flow of delivery. Pressure generation is lacking a little, partially due to the fact that there are no shower jets in the middle of the head, but it is still perfectly acceptable especially on somewhat modern plumbing set ups.
Water consumption of the unit is also good. The most you will see the unit ever consuming is some 2.5 gallons a minute which is right in line with modern expected standards so this ensures you will not run up a hefty water bill. Even at full pressure, this figure was never exceeded which is testament to the build quality of the unit.
- This is a unique and fun take on modern shower systems that works incredibly well in all aspects tested
- The modern cone design of the unit is immediately visually appealing and means it can be the centrepiece of your bathroom
- Good pressure generation, despite only having some 60 water jets
- The radio is clear, crisp and has a good run time, making it ideal for porting it round the house and on the move.
- Water consumption is also fantastic
- Sacrificing some jets in the middle of the shower head means that whilst pressure is good, you can generate more from other units
- No self clean facility, meaning both the shower head and speaker clog easily in hard water areas.
The Kohler Moxie K-9245-CP is a fun and refreshing take upon traditional shower heads that has a bold design and excellent usability. The pressure generation is not the best and in areas of hard water you may wish to sacrifice the speaker element, but for everyone else this is a shower head worthy of consideration. I hope this Kohler Moxie K-9245-CP review has been helpful.
